October

  • 4th October - New Planning Application Ref: 19/04359/FUL. Address: Boundary Gate, Abdon, Craven Arms, Shropshire, SY7 9HU.   • 6th October - Abdon and Heath Parish Housing Needs Survey. What kind of homes does your parish need? Right Home, Right Place is a local initiative to help identify housing needs across Shropshire. We’ll be running a survey in your parish during November, and we encourage all residents to take part – it’s your chance to tell us about your housing needs, now and in the future. Your answers will help to shape future housing provisions and property types in your community.   • Wednesday 9th - Free Talk on British Deer 7.30pm Clee Hill Village Hall. Learn all about the 6 species of deer that can now be found running wild in the UK. An illustrated talk by a leading expert from the British Deer Society. This free event has been organised by the Clee Hill Community Wildlife group. Tea, cakes and raffle. All welcome.   • 9th October - Water abstraction notice. If you have been abstracting from a surface or groundwater source without a licence, and this exceeds 20 cubic metres of water on any one day, you will need to apply for an abstraction licence - see details attached below. We strongly recommend that you submit your application in good time before the transitional application period closes. We suggest that you apply early and ideally before the end of September 2019. If a valid application is not submitted before the deadline of 31 December 2019, abstraction will have to stop from the 1 January 2020.  
  • Thursday 10th - Abdon and Heath Parish Council meeting 7.30pm Abdon Village Hall. Agenda attached below. All residents welcome to attend.
  • Saturday 12th - UFO (Un Finished Objects) craft morning at Abdon Village Hall 10.30am to 12.30pm. Bring along your unfinished projects. Join us and learn a new craft skill. Join us and teach your craft skills to someone else. Please supply your own materials. Please make a donation for refreshments.
  • Tuesday 15th - Festival of Ageing, 9am to 4pm Shrewsbury Town Football Club. Try something new, learn about staying well and the science of ageing, make friends and have a good time.   • Thursday 17th - Parochial Church Council meeting, Abdon Village Hall.

  • Saturday 19th - Woodland fungi walk, Abdon District Community Wildlife Group. Meet at Karl's wood (map ref SO594893) for 10.30am start. Park either in wood, or on verge, please do not block neighbouring gateways. Aim to finish by 1pm. 
  • Saturday 26th - Coffee morning, Abdon Village Hall 10.30am to 12.30pm. Join us for coffee, cake and a chat - everyone welcome!

November

  • Saturday 16th - Mindfulness Taster Day, 10am-4pm Abdon Village Hall. Would you like to cope better with stress and difficulty? Feel more relaxed and in control, sleep better, get more out of life? Cost £20. Numbers are limited so booking is essential. See leaflet attached below for full details.
  • Saturday 16th - Abdon Wildlife Group meeting/social event, 6pm - 9.30pm Abdon Village Hall. A short meeting to look back at what we have achieved, observed, identified over the year. It will also be an opportunity to start to plan next year.  We have a projector so we will be able to show people's photographs etc. We thought this would be a good time to have a social get together as well, perhaps a cheese and wine party. More information to follow nearer the time.

  • Brown Clee Meditation Group - every Tuesday evening 7pm in Abdon Village Hall. All are welcome at no cost. A leaflet is available from Brown Clee Surgery.
  • Coffee morning - last Saturday each month in Abdon Village Hall 10.30am to 12.30pm, except for December.
